The Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps is an All Age, Non-Competitive, Concert (no marching) Corps.

We are open to all current or former brass players, drummers, percussionists and color guard from any drum corps, marching band, or concert band in the greater Central New York area.

The Brigadiers Alumni’s goal is to provide a place where you can come play great music, socialize, improve your music skills and of course, have fun. We have a dedication to excellence, but as a non-competitive corps, we only require a one day a week commitment. (We know you all have busy lives.)

BINGO:

The Brigadiers Alumni Association runs a bingo every Wednesday night at the Cicero American Legion.  You can help support the Brigadiers Alumni Drum Corps by coming and playing bingo. Doors open at 5:00pm. The games start at 7:00pm.

 The Brigadiers Alumni 2011 HOLIDAY BRASS ENSEMBLE was a huge success again this year.

In just it’s 2nd year, the Brigadiers Alumni Holiday Brass Ensemble was honered to be asked to perform at this years Downtown Syracuse Tree Lighting Ceremony. We also performed at Carousel Mall, Cicero Tree Lighting Ceremony, Veteran’s Hospital, JC Pennys and several others locations.

We’re already working on even more locations and new music for next years’ Holiday Brass Ensemble.

Holiday Brass Ensemble Performance 

Come join us in Downtown Syracuse for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.  

WHAT:  City of Syracuse Tree Lighting Ceremony
WHERE:  Hanover Square (across Salina Street from Clinton Square) 

TIME:  We will play from 7:30pm - 8:00pm  (Festivities begin at 6:30pm)

Well, it’s time to kick-off the 2012 season with a performance at the Veterans’ Day Parade on Saturday, November 5th and our first Holiday Brass Ensemble performance in Downtown Syracuse fot the Clinton Square Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday November 25th, followed by the Cicero Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 2nd.  More information on each will be distributed shortly.

With that in mind, we must begin rehearsing. I know that many of you have been practicing and keeping your chops in shape at home or by performing elsewhere.  For those of you who have not had time, pick up the horn and start.  Remember, we practice at home and get together to rehearse.

Veterans’ Day Parade:

We will be playing American Tunes, so you must have this memorized and we will be wearing
the traditional Brigadiers uniforms.

Holiday Brass Ensemble:

For a few years, we had contemplated the idea of organizing a Holiday Brass Ensemble where our brass players could
play Christmas Carols and other holiday related tunes at shopping malls, tree lighting ceremonies and other venues.

Last year, that idea came to fruition and we had an extemely successful Holiday season and played about 9 performances.

The Holiday Brass Ensemble presented quite a few positives for us.  First, this ensemble gave our players the opportunity to play and perform at a time of year when we are usually inactive. Secondly, the ensemble gave the general public the
opportunity to see that the Brigadiers Alumni are still “alive and kicking”.  Thirdly, the ensemble can be used as a recruiting tool.

Keep in mind that the players in this 2011 Holiday Brass Ensemble will be able to use music and music stands during rehearsals and performances.  Although each player will have to demonstrate that he or she can play through each tune correctly in order to perform with the ensemble, memorization of each tune is not required.

Join your fellow Brigadiers and Brigadiers Alumni and have some fun as a member of the Holiday Brass Ensemble.

The first edition of the 2012 Off the Line will be coming your way soon!!!!!!   It will include a review
of the 2011 season, along with some other tidbits.
