The Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc. has, at its core, an Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.  The past experiences that were acquired by those who participated in the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps in the early years acted as the catalyst that brought some of those former members of the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps together to form the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc. in 1997.  Once formed, it was quickly decided to establish the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps in 1998.

As part of the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc., the Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps employs professional instructors to enhance the musical and marching capabilities of its membership.  Some of the Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps members were in the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps in the 1950’s and others participated during the ensuing years. A few have never previously participated in the drum corps experience and are gaining their initial skills with the education which they are receiving as a member of the Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.  Since membership in the Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps is open to anyone, we have derived membership within our ranks as a consequence of the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc.’s corporate purposes to promote public interest in the drum & bugle corps activity, its music and pageantry.

Because the Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps provides musical education, musical instruments and other equipment to its members without cost, it affords an opportunity for less fortunate individuals to receive training in music education and marching which they might not otherwise obtain.  Moreover, there have been many individuals in the past that, because of their drum & bugle corps experience, have gone on to become music educators, drill instructors, or professional musicians.

Not only do we make available worthwhile opportunities to anyone who wishes to take advantage, the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc. has contributed monetarily to various charitable groups as well.

Since 1998, the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps has performed in numerous parades, standstill concerts and other performances.  In 2006, 2007 and 2008 we have been the only drum & bugle corps to ever open the Drum Corps Associates’ World Championship Finals with the playing of the National Anthems.

Those who are members of the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association, Inc. and Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps, from the oldest of us to the youngest of us, have a deep, abiding respect for the spirit and traditions that have endured since the inception of the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps of the early years.   It is this pride that was the impetus for our biggest achievement; the replication and acquisition of the traditional uniform of the Syracuse  Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps.
